Selling everything from teddy bears to traditionally brewed ale the Royal National Mod shop in Falkirk is now open. Falkirk West MSP Michael Matheson formally opened the shop, which occupies a unit in The Mall, Howgate on the mezzanine level (level 3).

Local Falkirk West MSP Michael Matheson said:

"I was delighted to accept the local Mod Committee's invitation to open the Mod shop in The Mall, Howgate. This fantastic facility will act as a focal point in the weeks up to and during the event. I'm sure that it will prove to be a great success and would urge all those who are interested in the Mod to pay it a visit."

A wide range of high quality souvenirs of the Royal National Mod will be on sale along with programmes for the competitions and Feis (Fringe). Opening hours will be 10.30am to 3pm daily, but more volunteers are needed to help run the shop. If anyone can spare a few hours in the run up to, and during the week of, the Mod, which runs from October 10-18, contact Mary Ann Brown on 01324 823314.

Merchandise can also be purchased online at: http://www.mod2008falkirk.org/product.asp
