BAIRNS GAELIC TV DEBUT AS MOD 2008 LOOMS
 With BBC ALBA, Scotland’s new Gaelic Television channel now up and running, this coming weekend sees Falkirk FC debut on the channel with the match against Hamilton Accies set to be screened in its entirety on Saturday 27th September. BBC ALBA which is available on Sky Channel 168 and Freesat Channel 110, is providing sports fans with comprehensive coverage of SPL football which is in addition to live and exclusive coverage of one semi-final and the final of the ALBA Challenge Cup. BBC ALBA will also be covering Rugby and Shinty. This weekend’s SPL match at the Falkirk Stadium will be broadcast on BBC ALBA at 8pm on Saturday 27th with coverage provided by MNE Media, one of Scotland’s leading independent production companies. The match and action from all the SPL matches will also be shown on Sunday 28th September from 4pm. Councillor Pat Reid, Provost of Falkirk welcomed the launch of BBC ALBA saying “Falkirk Council is delighted to welcome the arrival of BBC ALBA on to the broadcasting scene in Scotland and is confident that the channel will be of huge benefit to Gaels and non-Gaels alike. As a Council we are also delighted to welcome BBC ALBA to the town for this weekend’s match against Hamilton Accies and I am confident that viewers to the Gaelic channel will see Falkirk record a home victory!” Falkirk Council also hosts the Royal National Mod, Scotland’s premier Gaelic cultural event next month and Councillor Angus MacDonald, Chairman of the local organizing committee is looking forward to BBC ALBA having a major presence in the town during the Mod which takes place from Friday 10th to Saturday 18th October. Councillor MacDonald said “Falkirk Council and the local Mod 2008 organizing committee look forward to welcoming BBC ALBA and other Gaelic media and cultural organizations as well as thousands of visitors to Falkirk for the Mod. The people of Falkirk and the surrounding area are looking forward very much to the event” Councillor MacDonald continued "In addition to the official Mod events we intend to stage an extensive Fringe, with performances from many traditional and contemporary musicians, talks and workshops highlighting the best of our culture, music and traditions. There will be something to interest everyone at this year's Mod and we hope as many people as possible, both locals and visitors, will be part of it.
