FIRST MINISTER MEETS WITH MOD 08 TEAM
FIRST MINISTER MEETS WITH MOD 08 TEAM First Minister Alex Salmond recently met with the Mod 08 organisers to wish the event good luck. The First Minister, who will officially open the 9 day festival celebrating the culture, music, language and art of the Gaels, spoke with Mod 08 Chairman Councillor Angus MacDonald and Falkirk Provost Pat Reid who were with the team promoting Mod 2008 at the recent SNP Spring Conference. Convener of the local organising committee, Cllr Angus MacDonald said: “It was very encouraging to receive such a positive boost from the First Minister, who said he was very much looking forward to attending the Mod in October and also to performing the official opening. The First Minister is very supportive of the Gaelic language and culture, which has been borne out by recent announcements of extra funding for the language from the Scottish Government. We very much look forward to welcoming the First Minister and his Ministerial team to the Mod in Falkirk, which runs from 10th to 18th October.” For more information check out the Mod 08 website at www.mod2008falkirk.org
